Why Yoga?

Yoga has been with me for the longest time, mostly as a physical practice and because it always felt like the right fit for my body. I always had the greatest admiration for my yoga teachers, and one in particular gave me great inspiration to become a yoga teacher myself. For several years, I had a yoga instructor in her seventies and at the time, she was more flexible and grounded than I ever could have dreamt. She served as one of my examples to explore the path of yoga further.

At a time where I was ready to explore my further spiritual journey and felt in need to reconnect with myself, yoga was there again, to show its full face. Yoga means unity with oneself, coming home.

That is what my path to becoming a yoga instructor looked like. Building a global community and investing time in myself and the study of ancient teachings in hinduism, ayurveda, breath work, gaining more confidence and strength in carrying out asanas, and deepening my meditation practice.

Yoga is a science, a complete system of living, with an integrated understanding of mind, body, and soul. It provided me with a toolkit for heart health & wellness for life. I am happy to share with you what I have learned from great teachers that have come down my path, as I keep deepening my practice and find ways to promote heart health for the populations I study and the communities I serve.

My favorite mantra that I would like to share for daily use: “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” or “May all beings everywhere be happy and free.”
